Griffin went back to the drawing board, re-designing their multi-device USB charging system and unveiling a newer sleeker model, the PowerDock Pro. It can still charge up to five devices at once and brings along some additional practical and enhanced features.

The Griffin PowerDock Pro is the successor to the PowerDock 5 we looked at here at CanoeTech Blog back in 2013. It still allows for charging up the five devices at once, but while the original was optimized for iOS, this one will play nice with both iOS and Android devices simultaneously.

Each port or bay if you will, still provides up to a full 12 watts of power, regardless to the number of devices attached.  And through Griffin own ChargeSensor circuitry, it will determine and deliver the right rate of charge for each device and the fastest way possible.

The slotted storage rack has been redesigned to better allow you to charge your smartphones or tablets without taking them out of their respective cases. The dock has also been enhanced with a fairly weighted down base, so it will remain steady on your desk or night table, should you decide to load it up with iPads and other bulky devices.

Griffin has also enhanced the cord management system to reduce a little bit of the clutter. Rather than plugging your cables (not included) into the side of the dock, the top portion of the dock pops off to reveal a hidden cable compartment.

The PowerDock Pro is available now and currently launching exclusively through CDW.com. It retails for US$129.99, but at time of writing, it’s showing as available for US$76.99, over 40% off. The dock is not currently available through their Canadian site, CDW.ca but of course, that may change in time.
